Ladies and Gentlemen,
Let me thank all WUAP representatives in the member states for their work and activities in support of WUAP. Our federation has moved forward again. We are becoming a stable and recognized organization. However, the current situation requires a few more steps to further improve the quality of our events and consequently the federation itself.
During the annual meeting held on October 10, 2025 in Nitra, several points were discussed, but we did not make final decisions. Since some did not attend the annual meeting, we want to give everyone the opportunity to express their views on these topics in order to reach a result that will be approved – if not unanimously, then at least by a clear majority.
1.) The WUAP management has proposed to increase the entry fee from the 2026 competition season as follows:
OPEN and MASTERS categories – € 90
Teen and Junior categories – € 60
Each additional start in any category – € 50
The reason for the increase is the significantly higher costs faced by the organizers. Every competitor expects a higher quality competition every year. At the same time, we must take into account the organizers and ensure that they have the means to ensure this quality. A higher entry fee may also encourage more organizers to organize European or World Championships. This increase is not drastic and in many federations the fees are significantly higher. The proposal is based on several discussions within the WUAP management and with individual members.
The representatives voted for the proposed increase as follows: Approached – 19 countries FOR the increase – 16 countries – YES AGAINST the increase – 1 country – NO ABSENT – 2 countries
2.) Minimum number of opening attempts for several categories Please find attached a proposal for the minimum number of opening attempts for competitors in the Teen, Junior, Open, Masters 1 and Masters 2 categories.
There have been several cases in previous championships where a Masters competitor declared an unrealistically low opening attempt in the squat or bench press and then drastically increased it on the second attempt. At the annual meeting we unanimously agreed that such behavior is unworthy of the World Championships and reflects poorly on the WUAP.
This proposal has been under discussion for several weeks and we are now presenting a version that should not pose any difficulties for competitors wishing to participate in the European or World Championships. This also helps the organizers, who must verify each attempt to open before the start and maintain the required standard of competition.
The representatives voted for the proposed introduction of limits as follows: Approached – 19 countries FOR the increase – 17 countries – YES AGAINST the increase – 0 countries – NO NOT VOTED – 2 countries
The voting deadline was December 8, 2025. Both proposals were approved and the changes will be incorporated into the rules for the 2026 season.
