Registration of continental records from 1.1.2023

Dear sports friends.
During the AGM in Germany, during the World Championships, the decision was made that
there will be an internet vote of national WUAP representatives  regarding the change in the continental record keeping.

Update on Januar 04, 2023, at 07:00 p.m

The options were:
- I agree with proposal no. 1 and setting new continental records from 2023.
- I agree with proposal no. 2. with the creation of a table of records based on current
continental records.

Detail of the proposal:

In the case of an approved change in the rules - combining age and weight
categories - we propose the following adjustments to record keeping:
There are two options:

1.)

Current record tables will freeze. Tables of old records will remain published on the
website, new records will no longer be added (records will no longer be able to be
exceeded) - they will remain
only as a historical overview of the original records. At competitions they will
not be posted so as not to confuse the competitors. At the same time, new tables will
be introduced
tables that will be „empty“ at the first competition (ME2023). No values will be in
them, and the first records will be set only at the first competition - on
European Championship 2023. After the European Championship 2023, the best
performances in the new categories will be recorded as new „establishing“ records in
to the empty tables.
From then on, only these new tables will be published at competitions (on  ME 2023
will not be an opportunity to claim/beat records – it will be declared that the best
performance in the category will be the new setting record).
The first option, how to „improve – overcome“ record, will be the 2023 World
Championships.
This option is significantly simpler, the possible error rate or controversies that may
arise is eliminated compared to the second option.

2.)

Old records in defunct categories will be frozen. Tables of old records will remain
published on the website, new records will no longer be added - they will remain
only as a historical overview of the original records. Not even at competitions will
these be posted so as not to confuse the competitors. At the same time, new tables
will be introduced with new/merged categories into which the previous records will be
transferred according to the following rules:
The best performance from merged categories will be transferred in to the new
merged class; if the performance is the same, then according to the rules the lighter
competitor, older competitor, in the case of a absolute match, points will be checked
in specific competitions in old results.

As an example, men's WR EQ BENCH records:

Since a new weight category of up to 95 kg is being created, it is still to be
considered if records from the category up to 90 or up to 100 will be transferred to it.
Since records from category up to 100 can be transferred to the new category up to
110, so the proposal is that the records from 90kg category be transferred to the new
category up to 95, which does not merge with anything, eventually leave them empty
and wait for them to be filled with new records.
This second option is significantly more laborious and can have a higher possibility of
error, possibly polemics.

VOTING RESULT

It was decided by Internet voting that the registration of new records from the
2023 season will be according to the proposal number 2. i.e. a combination of
old (current) records

14 countries participated in the Internet voting, 4 countries did not vote.
